Richard Prichard m Mary Griffiths, 1823, at Amlwch

My gggrandfather was Richard Prichard b 1797, married Mary Griffiths b 1804 on 6^th October 1823, at Amlwch. They lived at Glan Gors near Rhos y Bol and Richard worked as a miner at Mynydd Parys.

They had nine children: Robert b1824, Evan b1826, David b1829, Margred b1832, Samuel b1833, Richard b1838, John b1841, Thomas b1844, and William b1847.

Robert was my ggrandfather and one of his sons, my grandfather, Richard (b1857), sailed with his uncle, the above Richard (b1838) on a Brigantine named the Scottish Lass which was shipwrecked on the Isle of Whithorn, Scotland on 26^th February 1874. The crew of five were all saved.

I have information and some documentation on the original Richard’s (1797) descendants but nothing on his or his wife Mary’s ancestors. Can anyone help ?

I believe that Margaret (b 1832) in my family tree was a spinster and kept a shop in Dinorben square, but I cannot find her on any census after 1851.

Do you know if we are both talking about the same Margaret Pritchard. I have her parents as Hugh and Elizabeth as per 1841 cencus. Do you know where is was born or lived, or who her siblings were?

Margaret (b 1832) was a daughter of Richard and Mary (nee Griffiths) Pritchard who were married in 1823 at Amlwlch.

If your Mrgaret's parents were Hugh and Elizabeth I would suggest that there is a strong possibility that we are not talking about the same person.

I am not certain of my facts regarding the Pritchards, only of the date of birth, marriage date and death dates of Margaret. Do you have dates that perhaps we can compare?

Sorry I have taken so long to reply. Richard and Mary's daughter Margaret Pritchard married Joseph Jones. They had 10 children the oldest John married Elizabeth Humphries, their daughter Elizabeth was my grandmother. Hope to hear from you - and where you fit into the tree.
